Talk With Your Rheumatologist

Your rheumatologist may prescribe your rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment, but the decision to start or switch treatments is one you should make together. So speak up, be proactive, and help your rheumatologist meet your treatment needs.

What to tell your rheumatologist
The short answer: everything. At least everything that relates to how you've been feeling and how that's impacted your life. If you're a parent, for example, tell your rheumatologist how your symptoms may be affecting the time you spend with your children. It helps to come prepared to your appointments with a prioritized list of talking points and to take notes. The more open you are and the more you discuss, the more informed your treatment decisions will be.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of important factors to understand and consider when choosing a treatment. Every treatment has potential benefits and risks for you, and you should discuss them with your rheumatologist.
